Elaine Hoeksema

On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, God called his beloved daughter, Elaine Hoeksema, home.  She passed in peace, surrounded by family and immense love.  Our hearts are at once broken and relieved that her suffering has ceased and she has been gifted a new mind and body.  Though her disease claimed more and more of her as it progressed, her good humor, kindness, and gentle spirit remained to the end.  We imagine that in her first hours in her new heavenly home, Elaine has played her organ, sang praises to her King, and rejoiced with her beloved parents and loved ones who preceded her in death.   Elaine is survived by her husband of 61 years, Paul Hoeksema; children, Kimberly and Joseph Haveman, Jeffrey and Karyn Hoeksema, Jodi and David Howerzyl, Kurt and Jennifer Hoeksema; grandchildren, Brooke and Mark Arroyo, Carter and Lynnae Haveman, Hope and Kevin Snyder, Mackenzie and Josh Driesenga, Chad and Christi Hoeksema, Kade and Regan Hoeksema, Lynden Hoeksema, Paige Howerzyl, Morgan Howerzyl, Crew Howerzyl, Gibson Hoeksema, Graham Hoeksema, Brooks Hoeksema; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Dale and Sharon Brower; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Pat Hoeksema, Judy Hoeksema.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Alvern Brower.  Special thanks to Kami, Jessica, Dawn, Felicia, and Tori for their loving and compassionate care.  Due to current circumstances, the family and dearest friends are having a private celebration of her life. Private services will be held on Monday with Rev. Kamstra officiating. Interment Boynton Cemetery.
