Edward D. Namey, age 78, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Doris Burwell, Marion Bradey, and Joseph Namey. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Mary; sons, Ed and Laura Namey, Kevin and Mary Namey; grandchildren, Kevin, Kathleen, Alec, and Kate; and several nieces and nephews. Ed achieved great success in his career in the Aerospace Industry. He started as an engineer at Lear Inc., Grand Rapids and Honeywell in Minneapolis. He came back to Grand Rapids and worked in marketing at Lear Seigler and Elbit. Ed loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling, Polka and Arabic music. He was an avid reader and well informed on many world issues. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Friday 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood) 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE with Dr. David Lee Smith officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.

So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. He was and has always been one of the "good" guys dating back to the 1960's and 70's for me -- at Lear Siegler. Re-established our relationship about the mid 90's when Ed was a Director at LSi. We have all been deprived of many years of friendship by losing Ed at 78 years of age. But remember, he served us, his family and society very well during his years. Don Vetter
