Edward Marek

Edward Marek, age 86, of Sparta, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 10, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his son Todd Edward Marek; grandson, Michael E. Marek; son-in-law, Steven J. Dewitt; great grandson, Jacob M. Dewitt; parents, Frank and Emily Marek; step father-in-law, Red and Celia Anderson; father-in-law, Pete Kape; siblings, Dorothy Lethco, Caroline Sailval, Frank Marek, Jim  and Maryanne Marek, Virginia Skrobot, Richard Marek, Tommy Marek.  Edward is survived by his wife of 65 years, Darlene; children, Denise Williams, Kimberly and Jim Williams, James and Kelly Marek, Michelle Dewitt; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Marsha and Bob Delano, Patricia Marek, Connie and Keith Lord, Larry Marek; sisters-in-law, Donna Marek and Nancy Marek; many nieces and nephews. 

Edward graduated from Catholic Central and enlisted in the US Army.  He proudly served in the Korean War where he served as a Corporal in the US Army.  He enjoyed spending time with his six brothers and seven sisters.  One of his favorite past times he enjoyed doing was morel mushroom hunting, bow hunting and fishing in his earlier years.  Ed and Darlene spent over 25 years traveling the states selling biker jewelry, also Ed spent many years doing carpenter work by remodeling homes.  Edward was faithful to the Lord Jesus, and attended Holy Family Church in Sparta.  He was a very kind and generous man to all and will be deeply missed.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00AM Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Holy Family Church, 425 S. State St., Sparta.  His family will greet relatives and friends Wednesday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel – Belmont, 1601 Post Dr. NE., and one hour prior to Mass at Church.
