Edward graduated from South High School and proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. Reminiscing about his time in the service gave Ed great satisfaction. Ed worked many years in the furniture industry and learned wood carving skills from a wonderful mentor. A sweet, kind, gentle soul, Eddie viewed using one's God-given talents as a measure of success; he used his very well. As a Master Woodcarver, Ed's commissioned carving of the Stations of the Cross for his church, Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, brought him much acclaim. In 1975, President Gerald Ford met with Ed to accept his carving of the Presidential Seal. Ed used his talents to create many other works of art for local churches and the City of Grand Rapids offices. He leaves behind a legacy of work sent throughout the world. Ed also loved to joke around, especially about his beard being older than his listeners. He enjoyed playing cards and cooking tasty Italian or Cajun food.
