Edna Helmus

Edna Helmus, age 86, of Jenison, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 12, 2016.  Edna was born on February 15, 1930, the daughter of Frank and Ruth McLauchlin.  She married the love of her life, the late Herman Helmus, on June 17, 1948 and together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. They will now be joined in heaven, together again for eternity.  They loved spending the winter months in Florida and were fortunate to do so for over 21 years.  Edna was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Larry Helmus and fiancee, Gail Steensma, Sharon and Tim Steenland, Gary Helmus and Jon VanHaitsma.  She had 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Herm; a sister, Thelma McLauchlin; and two brothers, Frank McLauchlin, and Robert McLauchlin. Edna requested a private service for immediate family.  The family wishes to thank those who cared for Edna preceding her death.
