When our sister Katie was so tragically killed, our mother’s grief was insurmountable. She always said she would not have survived it without the help of Eileen Shook and Joyce Lass, who surrounded her daily with understanding and love. I remain grateful to Eileen and Joyce for their comforting presence. Eileen was a symbol of what is best about humanity. Her warmth and decency defined her daily life. She was an inspiration.
