Edna E. Gommesen

Edna Elizabeth Gommesen, age 90 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, son, Joseph and five brothers and three sisters. She will be missed by her children, Judith LaBar; Barbara Medawis, Mary and Gary Velthouse, Eric Gommesen, Thomas and Linda Gommesen; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Hildebrand, Mary and Bill Seymour, Phyllis Cahill, Margaret and Bob Bennett; sister-in-law, Emily Bolthouse. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Tuesday, March 21 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming with Fr. Mike Alber presiding. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens in Ionia. The family will meet relatives and friends Monday 2-4 and 6-8pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Edna was such a good friend to my mother, Marillyn Davis during her time at St Ann's. They seemed to enjoy each other's company so much. It's nice to know they are back together again. Our entire family wishes to extend our sympathy to all of you. Edna was a very special lady for sure!
