Edie Ver Meer

Edie Ver Meer (Kapteyn), age 62, of Hudsonville, passed away and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior and is now reunited with her beloved husband, Jay, who preceded her this past January, and her parents, Bud and Betty Kapteyn. Edie was a loving mom, grammy, sister and aunt who dearly loved her family. She was blessed with an adventurous spirit and loved to spend time up north at Lake Leelanau. Many memories of reading on the beach, sunsets, and a glass of wine at the local vineyards will be treasured. She enjoyed cooking and baking; sharing many delicious meals and treats with family and friends. Edie had a life-long career and passion for nursing and healthcare. She loved spending time outdoors, enjoying gardening and digging in the dirt. Edie also was an animal lover, having many pet companions over the years. Above all, her faith in Jesus and her generosity to others was evident to all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Toni and Ian Verhey, Brant and Caitlin Ver Meer; grandson, Connor Verhey, and granddaughter, Fenna Verhey; siblings, Sharon and Dan Elzinga, Randy and Kathy Kapteyn, Jeff and Laura Kapteyn; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeannie Ver Meer, Jana and Obie VanDyk; several extended family members; and many treasured friends who were like family to her. A service to celebrate Edie’s life will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Cottonwood Church with Pastor Matt Palsrok officiating. Burial Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 1:30-4 pm prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hudsonville Christian School Special Education Department.
