Earl Idema

Earl E. Idema, age 93, of Grandville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Rick Idema; daughter, Shirley (Brian) Hyma; daughter-in-law, Debbie Idema; grandchildren, Khristoffer (Nikha) Idema, Brandon Idema, Isabella Idema, Dominic Idema, Miranda Donselar, Dale Donselar; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ed Idema, Carol Van Kampen; sisters-in-law, Karen Plattee, Delores Drew, Bonnie Idema; and many nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Wilma; son, Jim Idema; siblings, Lloyd Idema, Robert Idema, Gordon Idema, Art Idema, Marie; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marv and Virginia Post, Larry Drew, Gene Platte, Dave Vankampen, Marjorie Idema. Earl loved spending time with his family and spending time in his garden. He was a faithful follower of Christ and a member of Hanley Christian Reformed Church. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at Hanley Christian Reformed Church, O-372 Jackson, Grandville, with Rev. Joseph Vanden Akkeer officiating. The burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, March 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
