Duane Scholten

Duane Scholten, age 67, of Hudsonville, was called to his Heavenly home after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Duane was born in McBain and attended McBain Christian High School. He later worked in car sales for many years and took immense pride in his work. He had a strong work ethic and loved buying cars at the auction and using his vast knowledge of them to help people find the perfect vehicle. Duane loved the outdoors, whether it was camping, spending time on the lake, or his favorite hobby, hunting. He enjoyed having youth hunts at his property and sharing his love of hunting by taking others along with him any chance he got. More than anything though, Duane loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. His family strives to continue his legacy of hard work and the importance of treating others with respect.

He was preceded in death by parents, Waldring and Betty Scholten; brother-in-law, Paul Netz; and sister-in-law, Vicki Lambregtse. Duane will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Cindy; daughters, Mandy (David) Skidmore, Leah (Brooks) Twist, Lindsay Scholten (fiancé Mike Burian), Heidi (Lindsay) Scholten-Haw; grandchildren, Delaney Skidmore, Boden Twist, Wrenley Scholten-Haw; siblings, Sherry (Jim) Post, Beverly Netz, Jeff (Tracy) Scholten; parents-in-law, Larry and Marva Lambregtse; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Pamela Lambregtse; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 6475 40th St. Hudsonville, with Pastor Jake Oswald officiating. Burial will take place at Blendon Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday, August 24, from 4-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hunt 2 Heal or Unity Christian School.
