We were so saddened to hear of Doug’s passing. He will be sorely missed, of his friends and family. Doug was a dependable person who looked after our property when we were out of town during extended periods of time. He always went above and beyond with his work to make sure everything looked great. We always saw him outside working in the yard. He took pride in his work as well as with caring for his parents. We know he will be greatly missed. RIP Doug. We are praying for your parents as this is difficult for them to lose their child.

To the Hood family I am so saddened to hear of Doug’s passing. I pray that God will give you the strength that you will need to get you through such a devastating loss of your dear son and brother. Your strong faith and the love of your family and friends will help to comfort you. I grew up with Doug and Sue. Doug and my brother Tom as well as all of his other friends from SJV spent a lot of time together and I tagged along as Tom’s little sister. I just reunited with Doug at a friend of ours Scott Thieme’s funeral. We had a great conversation as we reminisced about growing up together at SJV and on to Catholic Central. We had a lot of fun with all the friends in the neighborhood. We use to call him Hoody. Doug always had a smile on his face and was a very good friend. Sue I am so sorry for your loss. For the most part whenever Doug was around so we’re you. Doug went through some tough battles but he always seemed to persevere and move on. He will be deeply missed. Now he is reunited with a few of his buds, Tom and Scott. I can only imagine what that reunion was like. Rest In Peace my friend. Patti Wilterdink Wojtaszek

Rest In Peace, Doug. I haven’t seen him personally since high school but corresponded with him on social media. All these years later, he had a wonderful sense of humor that I will miss.

Doug was a good friend, and I’m very happy we shared such rich experiences in the coming of age/high school chapters of our lives. Thank you for all you gave us, Doug. Rest in Peace! Don MacLaren

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

It’s so sad when people leave this earth too soon. I met you when I was 5, and was your classmate for the next 12 years. We were on the grade school football team - believe it or not, Doug was a lineman! In high school he was the goalie on the hockey team. Doug always punched above his weight. I haven’t seen him in years but never forgot his smile (smirk?) and love of life.
