Douglas Buist

Douglas Ray Buist, age 59, of Allendale, was welcomed into his heavenly home on Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Shawn Buist; parents, Dale Sr. and Joyce Buist; stepmom, Carol Buist; sister, Debra Cohen; sister-in-law, Sharla Driesenga; and his grandparents. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Alexandria Buist; son, Carrington Buist; brothers, Dale Jr. and Colleen Buist, Dan and Karen Buist; brother-in-law, Dave Cohen; parents-in-law, John and Sandy Driesenga; brother-in-law, Shannon and Erika Driesenga; nephews, Zander and Carson Driesenga, Justin, Christopher, and Patrick Buist; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Doug was a life-long resident of Allendale where he owned a greenhouse for many years. His second home was up-north at Pere Marquette Oaks where he had great friends and made many fond family memories. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. at North Blendon Christian Reformed Church, 7284 Taylor St., Hudsonville, with Rev. Aaron Vriesman officiating. The burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, January 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.
