Dorothy Mackey

Dorothy DuMae (Jones) Mackey, age 88, of Grandville, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. She graduated from Catholic Central High School. Dorothy was happily retired and spent many weekends with visits to Big Boy restaurant with her friends and family. She cherished every opportunity to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included breakfasts with friends, “going-out” with family, reading, and puzzles. Dorothy will be remembered for her fun spirit, bright sense of humor, and for the way she treated everyone like family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother, DuMae Dyer; first husband, Gordon Jones; second husband, David Mackey; son, Dan Jones; son-in-law, Greg Heyer; brothers, Marty Dyer, Walt Dyer, and George Dyer; sisters, Iva Jean Smith and Leona Hoffmeister. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Greg (Tena) Jones, Sheri (Dave Caverley) Heyer, Carol (Russ) Pearson, Sue (Brent) DeHaan; daughter-in-law, Tammy Jones; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Nina Dyer, Paulette (Jack) Newberry; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The American Cancer Society.
