Dorothy J. Potgeter

Dorothy Jayne Potgeter, age 86, of Allendale, went to her heavenly home on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Dorothy retired from Meijer after 42 years of service. She was able to travel the nation with her husband and friends on their motorcycle and spent over 25 winters in Florida. She enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, camping, and trips to Mackinac Island with family. Dorothy cherished spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to support their many sporting events. She will be greatly missed for her cooking and baking, her heart after God, and love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe (Rebecca) Snip; parents-in-law, John (Janet) Potgeter; siblings, Louise (Clyde) Spencer, Helen (Melvin) Merritt, Don (Mary) Snip; brothers-in-law, Arthur Langerak, and Harold Potgeter.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Arlan; children, Deb (Jerry) Rotman, Linda (Arlyn) Eisen, Kevin Potgeter; grandchildren, Eric (Brienne) Eisen, Katie (Josh) Bekkering, Jeremy (Marie) Rotman, Matt Rotman, Dan (Sara) Eisen, Joe (Brianne) Eisen, Sophia Potgeter; great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Paige, Raegan, Ryan, Charlotte, and Adalaide; siblings, Robert (Edna) Snip, Ruth Langerak, Beatrice Potgeter, Bertha (Bob) Timmer; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf (Allendale) 6651 Scott St, Allendale, MI 49401 with Pastor Ken Kruithoff officiating. Burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Sunday, June 5, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Dorothy to Green Acres of Allendale or Faith Hospice.
