Doris Nedry

Comstock Park - Doris Jean Nedry, a long-time resident of the Comstock Park area, passed away on Tuesday the 12th of April at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, after a heroic battle with cancer. Born in 1937 in Muskegon, MI Doris dedicated her life to caring for others. Her career as a nurse spanned four decades and she received her associates degree in nursing at Grand Rapids Community College. After a long career as a nurse's aide, and then as an LPN, Doris retired from Butterworth hospital. She continued her service as a board member of the Michigan Licensed Practical Nurses Association, ultimately serving as its president. Doris attended Alpine Baptist Church, where she was a regular fixture, faithfully singing in the choir, serving in the kitchen and assisting when a helping hand was needed. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Boyd Nedry, four sons (John, Don, Mike and Shawn), six stepchildren (Larry, Linda, Rick, Mike, Kitty and Jon), 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her family will greet relatives and friends from 10AM until 11AM Friday, April 15, 2016 at Alpine Baptist Church, 692 - 7 Mile Rd. NW., with her service to follow at 11:00AM.
