Donna Machiela

Donna Jean Machiela, age 75, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Sunset Manor in Jenison surrounded by family and friends. 

Donna was known for her remarkable talents and creativity. Donna had a passion for crafting that brought joy to those around her. Whether it was making a quilt, sewing, making Christmas ornaments or cross stitching, she poured her heart into every piece, leaving behind a legacy of handmade treasures cherished by all who received them. 

Donna was a very giving and caring individual who had a heart for volunteering. She worked for many years with Joni and Friends Family Retreats, assisting parents and caregivers of individuals who have special needs.

She was the daughter of the late Donald and Ruth (Huizinga) Machiela. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Diane Maring: sister-in-law, Marjorie (Haan) Machiela; and other family members and loved ones whom she is surely having a wonderful reunion with in Heaven. 

Donna will be deeply missed by her brother, James Machiela; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Rich Miner; and brother-in-law, John Maring; along with many nephews and nieces;  as well as her very close friends, Don and Cathy Green; and her church family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 25, at noon at First Christian Reformed Church of Hudsonville, 5486 32nd Ave., with Rev. Dave Jolman officiating. A private burial was held at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit on Monday from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Emmanuel Hospice or to First CRC of Hudsonville. The funeral service will be recorded and posted on the funeral home website.
