Donna M. Hockin

Donna M. Hockin, age 92, of Jenison, lost her battle with cancer, but won her place in heaven on Monday, March 5, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who cherished her family. After graduating from nursing school, she was a nurse at Butterworth Hospital for several years. She continued to use her gift of care giving by volunteering at the Red Cross and at Grandville Senior Neighbors. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willard F. Spielmaker, and her second husband, Sidney Hockin; her sister, Lois Stickland; and her sister-in-law, Roberta Stickland.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Beth and Vern Borgman, Jon Spielmaker, Scott and Mary Hockin; her grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and Dan, Elizabeth, and Matthew; her brothers, Neal and Sally Stickland, Robert and Delores Stickland; and her loving nieces and nephews.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Parish, 3937 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, with Fr. Chris Rouech presiding.  Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and also on Friday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the Mass at church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff and caregivers ComForCare for their love, compassionate care, and attention given to Donna.
