Donna Jean Marek

Donna Jean Marek, age 89, of Byron Center, passed to our loving Lord on Sunday, October 16, 2022, after living a full and happy life. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Richard (Rick) Marek. She is survived by her wonderful, caring children: Rick and Marian Marek, Kathleen and Dr. Bernard King, John Marek, Ruth and Richard Schmiedicke; 12 loved grandchildren: Heather (Eric) Cheslek, Jennifer Marek, Nicholas (Sara) Marek, Meaghan (Daniel) Clocksin, Hillary (David) Millsap, Michael King, Sean Marek, Sunshine (Shawn) Lewis, Robert (Christiana) Henning, Jonathan Schmiedicke, Sarah (Randy) Middleton, Kathleen Braun; 9 loved great grandchildren: Alyssa and Zach Cheslek, Michael and Connor Clocksin, Taylor Henning, Emma George, Layne and Mavie Middleton, Jensen Braun; sisters and brothers-in-law: Thelma Poet, Robert Delano, Nancy, Darlene, Patricia and Larry Marek, Connie (Keith) Lord; many loved nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Donna was a master roller-skater. She had a generous heart; always wanting to feed people, or crochet an afghan for a baby or ten. She had a love of animals, especially dogs. She took great joy in being involved in the lives of her family. She loved supporting the moto-cross community; especially cheering for Rick, John, and Matt when they were racing. During their lives, she and Rick spent hours camping, traveling and sharing time with Jack and Arlene Horrocks and they spent winters with family and friends, new and old, in Florida. She loved her friends and neighbors who brought much joy and camaraderie to her life, particularly after losing her husband. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 21, 2022 at St. John Vianney, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 4-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, and from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. John Vianney Foundation for the School Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
