Donna J. Haverdink, age 88, of Jenison, entered healed and restored into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 23, 2026, after a journey with Alzheimer’s. She was born on a farm in Oakland, Michigan, the youngest of five children born to Benjamin and Florence (Redder) Winkels on June 5, 1937. She graduated from Zeeland Public High School and went on to attend nursing school. As an LPN, she dedicated many years working with Dr. Gerrit Kemme in Drenthe, Michigan. Her service as a nurse fueled her passion to help and serve. She continued to give as a volunteer with Bethany Christian Services pregnancy crisis hotline and faithfully served later in life at Revive thrift store in Hudsonville. She was dedicated to her family and took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their activities. She and her husband Carl also loved traveling together, as well as wintering in Nettles Island, Florida for 20 years. She was a faithful member of First Jenison CRC and later Baldwin Street CRC, enjoying fellowship and Bible study. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; infant son, Chad; siblings, Verna and Mike Bremer, Myrtle and Nelson VerBeek, Melvin Winkels, Shirley and Will Lambers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Fran Haverdink, Lee Schild, and Jan Haverdink. Donna will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dean and Jani Haverdink, Kip and Pam Haverdink; grandchildren: Carleigh and Zach Ashenfelter, Courtney and Jack Nixon, Jared Haverdink, Caitlin Haverdink and fiancé Braden Tazelaar, Connor Haverdink, K.J. Haverdink and fiancée Allyson DeGraaf, Mia and Cameron VanDyken, Aliya Haverdink; great-grandchildren, Ezra VanDyken, Josie Ashenfelter, and soon to arrive Baby Nixon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marian Schild, Ken and Cheryl Haverdink, Gord Haverdink, Bill and Barb Peuler, Randy and Audrey Palmitier; and several loving nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Manor and Emmanuel Hospice for the care they gave to Mom. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Pastor Ron Baker officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Tuesday, February 3 from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Wednesday from 5-5:45 pm at church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jenison Christian School or Hudsonville Christian School.
