Donald Verle Aldrich

Donald Verle Aldrich, age 88, of Caledonia, passed peacefully into the next life on Sunday, August 9, 2020. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Elaine (Bechtel) Aldrich; granddaughter, Heather Lynne Ogden; eight brothers; two sisters; and many other family members. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 10 years, Donna; children, Roberta Jean Aldrich and fiance Robert Higley, Deborah Anne Jack and fiance Fred Proffitt , Timothy Donald (Annette) Aldrich, Denise Marie (David) Percy, Jeffrey Scott (Sherry) Aldrich; many step-children; 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; twin brother, Darrell Lee (Doris) Aldrich; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held 11 am on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Durkee presiding. Rosary will be held at the Church on Thursday at 10:15 am. Interment Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 4-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Caledonia), 616 E. Main St. Caledonia, MI. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Knights of Columbus or Right to Life.

I will always remember our summers spent when my cousins, and I stayed at Uncle Donnie and Aunt Alice's house in Caledonia, and visiting Grandma Aldrich too. We sure had a great time in those days, and I enjoyed our Family reunions so much. He is with God and many others now. We will miss him and hold him in our hearts. Peace and comfort for your loss, and prayers for his family and friends.

I know Don and Donna from our exercise class. What a cheerful couple to be around. Don is admired for his consistency and determination. Great qualities to be known for. Our loved ones never completely leave us. They remain in our hearts and help us from the other side, until we are reunited. This I know. Sending prayers and love.

I am beyond blessed to have gotten to know Don and Donna in our fitness class. Don was so dedicated because he wanted to bowl again. After about 6 months of attending class, they invited me to watch him throw more strikes and spares than I could count. Don’s smile and amazing energy filled the room and our hearts. Don was a wonderful man. I will never forget the smell of bread and the amount of crunchy peanut butter he'd put on my toast. Don had a love of God in his soul. He was so smart and witty. We remember so well Don’s active involvement at Holy Family. The publications display, the leading of the rosary, leading stations of the cross, assisting at soup suppers, his booming voice during Mass, and his Faith-filled life and then love of family were all parts of Don that we will remember.
