Donald Smith

Donald Smith, age 84, of Caledonia, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Blane Smith; stepdaughters, Debbie Snedden, Bernice Roy. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Irene; his children, Barry Smith, Brian Smith, Carrie Walker and Connie Sears; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; stepson, Don Roy; sister, Marilyn Dube; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Don proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army. He had a great passion for skiing and was part of the National Ski Patrol, as well as a member of the Silver Streakers. Don also briefly taught Junior College math and electricity classes and was known for his “unique” sense of humor. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 1-4 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Caledonia) 616 E. Main St., with a Veterans Honor Guard Ceremony taking place at 3:30pm. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan.

Dear Smith family, please except my deepest condolences for the loss of your dear loved one Donald. May Jehovah, the God of all comfort, (2Corintians 1:3,4) comfort you in your time of need. His word assures us at Isaiah 33:24 that one day there will be no more sickness and at Isaiah 25:8 and Revelation 21:4, that one day death will be no more. At John 5:28,29, Jesus himself said that there will be a resurrection of those loss in death. And Psalms 37:29 guarantees that they will live again on a cleansed earth.
