Donald Jay Postma, age 82, of Jenison, MI, went home to his Heavenly Father, whom he loved, on Monday, November 9, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and Margaret Postma; brother, Carl Postma; and parents-in-law, Ted and Jennie Tamminga. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Janice (Tamminga); children, Lori and Dale VanderVennen, Daniel and Jill Postma, Sue and Jim Vos, Dawn and Tim Buursma, Amy and Troy Boeskool; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer and Kent Stevens, Becky and Kyle Potgeter, Rob and Marielle VanderVennen, Rachel and Adam VanderStelt, Ryan Postma, Danae and Eric Chudy, Drew, Jake, Tyler, and Elizabeth Vos, Madison and Austin Goodyke, Mackenzie and Craig Welch, Morgan, and Samuel Buursma, Brittany, and Noah Boeskool; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob and Ginny Postma, Jim and Jan Postma; sister-in-law, Kathy Postma; in-laws, Jim and Mary Tamminga, Warren Tamminga, Cal and Mary DeVries; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Don had a giving, servant’s heart, always helping those in need. He was involved in construction of new homes for the needy in Mississippi, Kentucky, and Michigan. Don and Jan were volunteers at Cary Christian Center for over 25 years, where he also served on their Board of Directors. He was a leader in his church, serving several terms as deacon and elder. He also proudly served his country in the US Navy. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 13, 11 am at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress Dr, Jenison, with Rev. Matthew Palsrok officiating.
