Donald N. Shamblin

Donald N. Shamblin, age 92, of Grand Rapids, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.  Donald was born three days after Christmas in 1927. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, in 2007. He will be lovingly remembered by his children; Daniel (Bonnie) Shamblin, Sandra Deuel Weiks, David (Robin) Shamblin, Dale (Jeanne) Shamblin, Denny (Mary) Shamblin, Sharon (Michael) Ary; grandchildren, Hannah, Martha, Aaron, Brian, Jeff, Amber, Michael, Jason, Sean, Tara, Derick, Angela, Greg, Michael, David, and Katie; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Don faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army. After graduating from Davis Tech, he worked as a printer for many years. Don was a loving, caring, joyous husband, father, and grandfather. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting deer at the Dead Stream Swamp, staying and fishing at the trailer at Hardy Dam, and playing cards.  In his youth he acquired the nickname, “DOC”, because he was always fishing from the dock at Reeds Lake. Don loved his cookies and ice cream especially when coupled with playing Euchre, Cribbage, and Poker with his family. He loved to dance, spending many hours on the dance floor with Barbara and others at weddings, St. Isidore parish gatherings, family, and social gatherings. The family would like to thank the staff of Vista Springs Riverside Gardens and his former neighbors, Pat and Linda, for the loving care they provided. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 16, 2020 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
