Donald Marshall Hulbert

Donald Marshall Hulbert, “Butch,” age 84, of Sand Lake, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He grew up in the North Park area and graduated from Creston High School. He retired after many years from BASF. He loved hockey, golfing, watching Nascar and football. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to Florida. Butch will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Janice; children: Jeffrey Marshall (Shawn) Hulbert, Marc Donald (Megan) Hulbert; grandchildren: Jeffrey (Brittany) Hulbert, Courtney Tatroe, David Gerst, Scott Jones, Gavin Hulbert, Ethan Hulbert, Arden Toler, Celia Toler; great grandchildren: Braelynn, Makenna, Asher, Linkoln, Arya; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Barb) Post, Kenneth (Mary) Koppenol; life-long friends: Lynn (Donna) Rogers, William (Ellie) Tuffs, Charles (Diana) Hooper, Ronald (Catherine) Anderson, Ronald (June) Jones; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Donald Hulbert; daughter-in-law, Molly Volkhardt Hulbert; grandson, Brandon Tatroe; parents, Marshall and Vivian Hulbert; sister, Jennifer Post. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI with Rev. Jeremy Scripps officiating. Burial will be held at Washington Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and also Thursday from 10-10:45 prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pine Grove Community Church or Hospice of Michigan.
