Donald Jay Sterk

Donald “Don” Jay Sterk was born January 9, 1952 in Grand Rapids, MI to Gerrit and Fran Schipper Sterk. After completion of high school, Donald worked in the family painting business as a professional painter. He met his wife, Winona Mae Woodwyk in 2010, they fell in love and united in holy matrimony on September 29, 2012 at the Woodland Drive in Church. He loved going to church, going out to eat, riding his bike, and taking care of our daughter, Retha. Later he and the family moved their church membership to the Fifth Reformed Church. On December 8, 2022 he was surrounded by loving family when he peacefully went to be with the Lord. Rest assured that Don is absent from the body but presence with the Lord. In His great mercy, God has given us new birth into the Wing of Hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1Peter 1:3. Donald is proceeded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Fran Sterk and his sister-in-law, Diane Sterk. Those who remain to cherish his memory is his wife, Winona Sterk; stepsons, Rodell and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Beasley, Roshawn Beasley and step daughter, Retha Beasley; his daughter, Angela and son-in-law, Jon Riley; grandson, Josiah Riley and granddaughter, Rose Riley of Dacula, GA; brothers, Gary and sister-in-law, Karen Sterk, Doug and sister-in-law, Terri Sterk, Tom Sterk and sister, Karen Sterk all of Grand Rapids, MI. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Fifth Reformed Church, 2012 Griggs SE, Grand Rapids with Rev. Jon Sherrill officiating. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the church.
