Donald Jack Opdendyk

Don J. Opdendyk, 87, husband of the late Karen Ruth Opdendyk, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late George and Evelyn Ike Opdendyk on September 28, 1933. Mr. Opdendyk worked in computer systems for Systematics and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also a member of the Camp Lake Association. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Tony) Wilson; grandchildren, David Garret and Bryan (Mandy Shephard) Garret; his special “adopted” daughters, Kim Millard and Amanda (Jeff) Misner; special “adopted” grandchildren, Reid, Grace, and Max Misner; brother, Ray Opdendyk; brother-in-law, Jim (Patty) Hanje; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Hanje. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Bryan Opdendyk; his brother, Robert Opdendyk; and his brother-in-law, Billy Hanje.

A graveside service will be held later in the spring at Hooker Cemetery near Wayland, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Service Organizations www.uso.org or the West Michigan Food Bank.
