Donald E. Flanders, age 74, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 17, 2019, and is now reunited with his wife Mary, who preceded him  in death just 5 months ago. Don was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who always was there for his family. He was his grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader in everything they did. Don had a passion for sports, especially enjoying golf. He was active in both his church and community, serving on the Caring Ministries team at Ridgewood CRC, and also on the Unity Athletic Boosters Golf Foundation for over 20 years. He proudly served his country in the US Army, where he was stationed in Ft. Hood. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Judy Hoonhorst and fiance’ Chad VanderStelt, Scott and Cim Flanders; grandchildren, Marissa Hoonhorst, Audrey and Devin Klein, Nick, and Matt Hoonhorst, Aubree, Emma, and Brayden Flanders; brother, Gil Flanders; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 21, 11:00 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Pastor Len Kuyvenhoven officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Christian High School.
