Donald Cook

Donald J. Cook, 84, of Tallmadge Township, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 26, 2024. He was born in Coopersville, Michigan, on August 22, 1940, to the late James and Jennie (Hubka) Cook. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was blessed with a contagious personality and a strong work ethic. His legacy of faith and family will be forever cherished. 

He was preceded in death by his niece, Amy Bronkema; brother-in-law, Dale Bronkema; and sister-in-law, Ruthanne Flikkema. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Lenore “Lonnie” Cook and their son and their three daughters. Those four children and their families are: Shawn and Jill Cook (Donald, Franklin and Theodore Cook), Melissa Cook, Nicole and Gary Scott (Olivia and Tim Rigotti, Isabella Scott, Amelia and Jacob Meengs with Scottie Mae, Garrison Scott), Carrie and Tom Knol (Jack, Charlotte, Augustus and Henry Knol); sisters and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Clifford Bronkema, Betty Bronkema, Arlene Cook; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Ruth Engelsma, Mary Beth and Lammert Lubbers, Michael and Brenda Engelsma, Lois and Tim Pipe, John Flikkema, Jonathan and Florettta Engelsma, Mark and Debra Engelsma, Elizabeth and Edward Ophoff, Kenneth and Pam Engelsma, Sara and Mark Looyenga, Jordan and Amy Engelsma. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 1, at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone United Reformed Church, 6442 36th Ave. Hudsonville, with Rev. Philip Vos officiating. The burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday, September 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
