Don Stewart, aged 89 of Grand Rapids, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary (Draper) Stewart and Nila (San Miguel) Stewart; parents, Roy and Marina Stewart; brothers, Jim, Dick, and Roger Stewart; sister, Betty Fulford; and son-in-law, Mike Billingsley. Don is survived by his children, Sues, Mary Lou, Jim, and Tom Stewart, Janet (Dan) Crouse; step children, Kim (Don) Erickson, Joe (Mary) Adams, Thom Adams, David (Julie) Adams, Peter Pappas; grandchildren, Christopher (Carinne), Kevin, Mary, and Alecia Crouse; great-grandchildren, Cailyn, Claira, and Carlee Crouse; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Don proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He worked for Fred’s Market which became Gordy’s Market for 35 years and was a charter member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, 50 Bellevue SW, Wyoming with Fr. Phil Shangraw presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming on Friday from 3-5 and 6:30-9 pm with a vigil service at 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics.
