I was honored to met Dolly back in January of 2014. As they say, I was on my deathbed in the hospital here in Tampa due to diabetic ketoacidosis. I had contacted the AAGPB regarding a former players possibly visiting our lady baseball players and the league asked Dolly to call me. I was in the hospital and was not allowed a phone until I was taken out of the ICU. Two days after that, I had my phone and I heard the multiple messages from Dolly. I called her as soon as I had the strength and had a tremendous conversation. Dolly showed up to the NY Yankees Women's Fantasy Camp and our ladies loved her. Dolly was not a Yankee legend but she was much more, she was someone who had been there and done that. That, as in play baseball. Dolly came back each January to visit our lady campers for a few hours until this past January. I loved Dolly as if she was my own family. I was fortunate to have talked to her on the phone on September 8th. Talked to Bob and he suggested that I talk to Dolly. I was on a cruise ship waiting to leave Port Canaveral. I sat down beside a couple from Grand Rapids and I asked them if they knew Dolly? They knew of her but did not know her personally. I talked alot about Dolly to the point that I decided to call her. If I continue writing my memories, I will bore you all but she has made a lasting memory for me as well as all of our lady campers who had the chance to meet and talk to her. She arrived as a guest of the NY Yankees but she left a member of the NY Yankees family. Love from Cliff to the entire family. RIP my friend, DOLLY!!!

I met Dolly a decade ago as the GVSU Veterans History Project was starting to interview former Grand Rapids Chicks. Dolly is the one who first suggested that we expand our project to cover the full league, so it is really because of her that we have been able to interview over 50 players, and produce a documentary, _A Team of Their Own_. We are continuing to work with the league and are producing a series of short films for the league that look at different aspects of the league in more depth. The former players we work with are some of the most dynamic and remarkable people I've ever met, full of spirit and life. This world won't be the same without Dolly, but the next one just became more fun.

Dolly I only knew you from your days as a "snowbird" in Ventura CC, Orlando FL. A League of their own was my favorite before I met you and then I met you! You are such a wonderful woman and will be dearly missed. The LORD has definitely called one of his angels HOME. I love you and you and your family are always in my prayers.

Having spent most of my first 18 years in bowling alleys across Grand Rapids, Dolly was truly one of my first sports "heroes". She was one of the best bowlers I have ever seen. I fondly remember my parents telling me about her and the AAGPB. My condolences to the entire family on her passing.
