Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Diane Kawa, age 71, of Rockford, passed away to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Diane was full of joy and embraced life with a bright spirit. She adored her dogs, especially dressing them up. She approached everyone and everything with gratitude, gentleness, grace, and a warm, welcoming smile. Selfless and loving, she had a true heart of gold.
Diane dedicated over 25 years of service to the Kent County Jail, where her compassion, professionalism, and commitment to others made a lasting impact. She was honored with the Civilian of the Year Award, a recognition that reflected her integrity, strong work ethic, and the respect she earned from coworkers and the community.
She found peace and pride in her flower garden, delighting in the beauty she nurtured. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, outings with her girlfriends, and traveling—often exploring new places and playing tourist throughout Michigan. Her faith was unshakable, and even during her ten-year battle with cancer, she carried an inspiring strength and a positive outlook.
Her church community held a special place in her heart, and she loved serving whenever she could. Above all, Diane cherished her family. She treasured every gathering, especially the holidays, where she shared her love through delicious meals, especially her famous cheesy potatoes. Diane will be deeply and dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence Kawa; and sister, Sharon and Norris Knapp. She will be lovingly remembered by her dear children, Chad Hall, Allyson Rosloniec and Michael Kommer; grandchildren, Brianna Hall, Madison and Michael Harless, Grace Stoken, Emilee Stoken, Michael Abdiel, Jackson Stoken, Jace Kommer; brother, Larry and Ann Brown; nieces and nephews, Robert Knapp, Penny Brown, Crystal Talsma, and Larry Brown Jr.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, 1601 Post Dr. N.E, Belmont, with Deacon Jim Hessler officiating. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may meet the family an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to National Breast Cancer Foundation.
