Dessie Hartman

Hartman – Dessie M. Hartman aged 94 of Jackson, MI passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Richard Hartman; son, Thomas Gurk; stepdaughter, Janice (Jeff) Mace; grandchildren, Laura Odenbach and Lisa Williams. Dessie is survived by her children, James Hartman,  Robert (Mary Jo) Gurk, Sherry Paul; stepson, William (Cindy) Hartman; grandchildren, Thomas (Sherry) Gurk Jr., Dawn (Joel) Wainwright, Christine (Odie) Lynch, Robert J. Gurk, Joseph (Amanda) Gurk, Erin Paul, Brian (Amy) Paul; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. Dessie loved life and everything it had to offer; she was a devoted wife and mother. She had many talents, she was a professional seamstress, beautician, crafter, quilter and knitter. She also enjoyed cake decorating, candy making; collecting recipes and cookbooks. She enjoyed playing cards, Cribbage and Pinoccle, and just having fun.  She loved people and was active in her community as the co-president with Richard of the Kissimmee Squares Square Dance Club. She volunteered at the Agricultural Center in Kissimme, FL also teaching sewing, knitting and crochet.  She was active with VFW Women’s organization in Mio and Grass Lake, MI and was active in her church community everywhere she lived. She loved camping and had camped in most of the States in America, including Alaska. Dessie was a member of the National Camping and Hiking Association for many years and enjoyed singing and laughing around a good campfire.
