Denise Pauline Calkins

Denise Calkins, age 73, of Belmont, Michigan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Her greatest joys in life included cheering on her favorite Detroit sports teams, following University of Michigan athletics, attending Whitecaps games, spending time at the family cabin up north, and participating in the annual Mackinac Bridge Walk with her husband, Bob. Above all, she treasured being a grandmother, volunteering her time to others, and making memories with her family, especially her boys.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Anne Daniels; brothers-in-law, Bob Dombrowski and Bob Byle; niece, Jenni Byle.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 23 years, Bob Calkins; children, Brandon (Stacey) Calkins, Matt Calkins; siblings, Voni (Mike) Kibbe, Mary Dombrowski, Mike (Mary) Daniels; siblings-in-law, Bill (Pat) Calkins, Deb Byle, Brian Calkins; grandchildren, Christopher, Farrah, Uly, and Harper Calkins; nephews and nieces, Dorie (Jason) Welch, Kali Kibbe, Jami (Rachel) Kibbe, Teresa (Kevin) Fox, Janette (Jeff) Heaton, Karen (Eddie) Barber, Joe (Maaike) Dombrowski, Tom (Tara) Dobrowski, Rose (Joel) Dombrowski, Joel Daniels, Marcus Daniels, Maddy Daniels, Eric (Tara) Calkins, Charlie (Erin) Calkins, Alex (Valerie) Calkins, Jim (Hilary) Calkins, Megan (Brad) Joppie, many great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 29, at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, 4865 11 Mile Road NE, Rockford, MI with Rev. Dominic Couturier officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday, May 28th from 5-7 pm, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont or Friday, May 29th from 10-11 am at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church.
