Dean Garn

GARN - Mr. Dean O. Garn, aged 70 of Jenison, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012. He fought bravely for a month with aggressive leukemia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Mabel Garn; father-in-law, Patrick J. Loftus of Hastings; brother-in-law, Terrance Loftus. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Denise; children, Dean Scott Garn, Sandra (David) Pallante, Randall B. Garn, Rochelle (Patrick) Henderson; grandchildren, Amber (Scott) Colter, Sean Garn, Joseph Pallante, Alex Pallante, Pamela Goree, Jacob Henderson, Tiara Henderson, Nicholas Henderson; brothers, Kent Garn, Max (Carol) Garn; mother-in-law, Iris Loftus; brother-in-law, Andrew Loftus; sister-in-law, Debbie (Scott) Errthum; several nieces and nephews. Dean worked for GM from December of 1961 until his retirement in July 1997 and was President of UAW Local #730 from 1990 to 1993. He also owned and operated G & G Services. He enjoyed running several bingos in Grand Haven for the Knights of Columbus and the Democratic Party. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, October 14 at Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens.
