Dean E. Richardson

Dean E. Richardson, age 82, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Richardson; son, Kristopher Richardson; and sister, Diane Durham. Born in Hollywood, California, to the late A.O. and Dorothy Richardson, he later moved to Michigan, where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and community. Dean graduated from Rockford High School in 1961, known as “That class!” A kind and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, he possessed a wonderful sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. He served as a rural mail carrier for the United States Post Office, retiring after more than 30 years of dedicated service. In his retirement, he worked as a barber at Ward’s Hair Place in Rockford, where he enjoyed countless conversations and cherished friendships. Dean was an avid golfer where he achieved multiple holes in one. He was a huge Michigan State University fan enjoying many football and basketball games. He was also a proud and devoted member of the Grand Rapids Masonic Lodge for many years. His warmth, laughter, and unwavering spirit will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kerri  (Mike) Herweyer; grandchildren, Kristin (Eric) Morrison, Jason (Korin Hollinshead) Richardson; great-grandson, Elliot Morrison; brother and sister-in-law, Danny (Phyllis) Richardson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim (Barb) Durham; loving nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation to celebrate Dean’s life will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 2-5 p.m. at MKD Belmont Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont. In lieu of flowers, please remember Dean when watching the next MSU game with a shout of “Go Green, Go White!”
