David Zefflin Schwartz

David Zefflin Schwartz age 39 entered heaven on November 14, 2020. David was an eternal optimist and could make friends easily with his openness and friendly smile.  David loved his family greatly despite trials and separations.  David owned a Grand Rapids tree service company, the Tree Whisperer, in which he took pride.  In contrast to the bright and loving man that David was, he also battled longtime addictions which led to long periods of incarceration.  It was during his last incarceration that David started studying God’s Word. David came to know and love the Lord.  Not only was he an avid student of God’s Word, he also mentored and encouraged other inmates.  It was after his release that David lost his battle with addiction which took his body physically-- but could not take his soul which is safe with Jesus in glory. 

David is survived by his son Joshua Seth Schwartz of Raleigh, North Carolina ;  brother Joshua Aaron Schwartz of Las Vegas, Nevada; Aunt Rose & Uncle Kevin Perkins of Las Vegas, Uncle Jerry & Aunt Tona’ Urban of Cedar Springs, Aunt Mary Musick of Grand Rapids & Uncle James Urban of Greenville, Uncle Jerry Schwartz of New York plus 59 cousins which includes great and great-great cousins.

He is preceded in death by his Mother & Father: Robin Lyn (Urban) Schwartz & Philip Saul Schwartz of Las Vegas, Grand Parents Roland & Rose Urban of Cedar Springs, Lester & Anna Schwartz of New York; Uncle Richard Urban, Aunt Jeanne Candia, Uncle Robert Urban, Uncle Steve & Patty Schwartz of New York

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that “donations” be made in the form of extending an act of kindness and generosity to someone who is incarcerated or battling addictions. A visit, a card, a kind word and encouragement means the world to someone who is alone and feeling hopeless. 

Hebrews 13:1,3 Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to stranger, for by doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
