Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
David Clarence Paver passed away suddenly in his home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 3, 2024, at the age of 71. He was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, on January 27, 1953. David graduated from Wheaton North High School in 1971 and Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, in 1975 with a B.A. in Economics. He was married to Beth MacDonald (Wheaton College, class of 1976) from 1978 – 2014.
In 1977 David began his career with ServiceMaster Clean home office (Downers Grove, Illinois) as Regional Manager and in the Market Expansion department. After 10 years at the ServiceMaster home office, he and his wife purchased, and operated ServiceMaster of Kent County in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1986. In subsequent years he purchased and operated additional ServiceMaster franchises, in and around the greater Grand Rapids area. As David began to retire, he sold his business to his longtime friend and business partner in 2018. David was also the owner of Furniture Medic First Responders in Grand Rapids, Michigan (2005 – 2016).
Throughout David’s life he volunteered his time working with church youth, mentoring, and various charities. He enjoyed reading, boating, estate sales, and making people laugh. Some of his more recent hobbies included piano and baking. He was always enthusiastic about taking on a home-improvement project with his children’s houses and spending time spoiling his grandchildren.
David leaves behind his son, Tim Paver (Miriam); and daughter, Debbie Paver; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Will, and Ethan Paver. He is also survived by his brothers, Elmer (Pauline), Bill (Joan), and Dick (Jean); and many dear nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alice Paver.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to: Ladders of Hope Food Pantry (Fennville, Michigan) or Urban Family Ministries, summer camp program for kids.
David's legacy of kindness, entrepreneurial spirit, humor, and work with various charities in West Michigan will be remembered by all who knew him.
