David Lee Martin

David Lee Martin, age 85, of Byron Center/Dorr, went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Antoinette; his parents, James and Hazel Martin; and all his siblings. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Renee (Andrew) Reeg, Kim (Jeff) Smith; grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Nelson, Michael (Kayla) Bowers, Courtney Morici; great grandchildren, Kiara, Kimora and Kealliya Nelson, Giovanni Morici, and soon to be, Avery Bowers; nephew, Ken (Carmen) Martin; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dave valiantly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Dave was a hardworking, loving, husband, father and grandfather. Dave worked his entire career in the construction industry for the D.C. Beyers Company. He enjoyed rustic camping with his family and growing vegetables in his garden. He faithfully, quietly, cared for his wife, Antoinette, until her passing in 2015. The family would like to express their gratitude to Carmen “Chickie” and Ken Martin for all the wonderful meals, transportation, and loving support. Our thanks and gratitude to Debbie Pace for the wonderful care and aid she provided to Dave over the last year. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday, April 28 at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Msgr. Bill Duncan officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans.
