David Kok

David Kok, age 88, of Hudsonville, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021, and is now safe in the arms of Jesus. David was born in Grand Rapids and graduated from Lee High School and then enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. After discharge, he married his lovely wife Virginia (VanHouten) and spent his years of employment at Zondervan Publishing and Able Sanitation. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife and friends. He was a loving father and grandfather who especially loved going to his grandchildren’s sporting events. He modeled and taught his faith in Jesus to his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Virginia; children, Donald and Wanda Kok, Sheryl and Steve Chittenden, Kim and Rodney Schutte, Tamara and Randy Ritsema; grandchildren, Nick Kok and Cheyenne Snoderly, Roxi and Richie Diaz, Ben Kok, Jackie Kok, Laura Chittenden, Cari and Wesley Mayle, Paul Chittenden, Aaron Schutte and fiancee Katie Creighton, Zachariah and Amy Schutte, Ashley Schutte, Brianna and Sam Brown, Caleb Schutte, Colton Ritsema, Jacob Ritsema; six great-grandchildren plus one on the way; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry Pylman, Marlene Sterk, Esther Burgess, Jack and Sue Van Houten, Phyllis and Ron Smouse; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Dorothy and Ray Potts, Harold and Sally Kok, Alvin and Charlene Kok; brother-in-law, Bill Sterk and sister-in-law, Janice Pylman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, May 24, 11 am at Baldwin St. Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St. Jenison. Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 9:30 to 10:45 prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Calvin Christian Education Fund or World Vision.
