David Lee Gaberdiel, age 44, of Jenison, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 28, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Gaberdiel, and his stepfather, Paul Kroll. David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who treasured his family. He was a friend to many, and always put others before himself. If there was something to be done, David was always there to help in any way he could. He had a love for the outdoors, enjoying hunting and ice fishing, but most of all, he was the number one University of Michigan fan. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Valerie; his children, Courtney, and Jake Gaberdiel, Niki and Jeff Kamer, Natasha Bramer; grandchildren, Tyra, Desirae, Caleb; mother, Barbara Kroll; brother, Jeff and Julie Gaberdiel, sister, Kristin and Jimmy DeGroot; stepbrothers and stepsister, Shelly and Doug Baas, Brent and Tami Kroll, Matthew Kroll; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11 am at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th Ave., Hudsonville with Pastor Shawn Hulst officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 3-5 and 6-8 pm also at Fellowship Reformed Church. Please enter through doors “C” and “D”. Because David was able to give the gift of life to others through organ donation, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to Gift of Life Michigan.

Sorry for your loss, I hope that your family finds comfort in all the loving memories that were shared with Dave, I also hope you are able to find comfort in the loving words of Acts 24:15 and Psalms 37:10,11 which reminds us of the hope of resurrection to a paradise earth. May Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ give your family comfort during this sad time.

We are truly sorry for your loss. My wife and I were invited by Derek and Mel to join them for a few days at Torch Lake this past summer. Dave was a great guy, so nice and welcoming to us. My wife asked Dave "So why do they call you one eyed Dave?" Everyone starts laughing because they know my wife is about to get her question answered!!! I can't help but laugh when I think of her expression. Thankful to have known such a kind man. I'm glad I got to share several beers with him too. The fact that he was a U of M fan made it even better. Our love and condolences to his family and friends.
