David F. Reeg

February 23, 1932 ~
March 29, 2025

David F. Reeg, 93, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025. He was born on February 23, 1932, and lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others.

He grew up in Parma, Michigan and graduated from Parma High School.  After graduation, David proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning to the States, he married the love of his life, Marilynn. Together, they pursued their passion for education, both earning their bachelor’s degrees in teaching from Central Michigan University. After graduation, they moved to Coldwater, Michigan, where they both began teaching. David dedicated many years to Coldwater Community Schools as an industrial arts teacher at Legg Junior High School before retiring in 1972. Following his retirement from teaching, he and Marilynn worked together with World Book Educational Products. However, his passion for teaching led him back to the classroom, where he worked with special needs students at the Coldwater State Home. He had a unique talent for connecting with these children, providing them with patience, guidance, and encouragement.

In addition to his career in education, David was a skilled handyman who could fix almost anything. His expertise was especially valuable when he worked at Saskatoon Golf Course, where he repaired and maintained golf carts. David was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved watching sports, tending to his garden/yard, and spending time tinkering in his workshop, always finding something to repair or improve. His resourcefulness and creativity were evident in everything he did.

Above all, David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his four children: Crystal Bellgraph (Bruce), Ryan Reeg (Julie), Lorie Rodriguez, and Amy Reeg (Susan Lindsay); his eight grandchildren: Kyle Bellgraph (Alecia), Steven Bellgraph (Kelly Murray), Stephanie Bucek (Michael), Fernando D. Rodriguez (Paula), Kevin Rodriguez (Kelsey), Kayla Reeg, Emily Ricks (Chad), and Hannah Webb (Dallas); and his eight great-grandchildren: Hadleigh Bellgraph, Reeg Bellgraph, Beckett Bellgraph, Theodore Bucek, Sebastian Bucek, Benjamin Bucek, Kane Webb, and Cooper Ricks. He is also survived by his sister, Janet (Jim) Farmer and brother, Dennis (Cathi) Reeg, along with many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilynn; his parents, Leonard and Pauline Reeg; and 3 of his 5 siblings: Joan Farmer, Alice Clark, and Paul Reeg.

I have very fond memories of Mr. Reeg as one of my slow-pitch softball coaches. He was a great coach! One of the best. My condolences to the family, especially my former classmate and teammate, Amy.

To the loved ones of Mr. David Reeg, What a wonder life this man has lived. One worthy of looking up to, giving of himself to others. A Bible truth found at John 5: 28, 29 reminds us the God never forgets about those who have passed away. It says “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life…” This beloved husband, father, grandfather, and even great grandfather certainly is one who did “good things”. May you all find comfort during this time!
