David's family will greet relatives and friends 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 6 and 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 7 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 8 at Calvary Church, 707 E Beltline Ave. NE, Grand Rapids. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the service. BOWMAN - David Lee Bowman, aged 82, passed from this life and entered his heavenly home on Friday, January 31, 2020. He lived a full life with Nancy Bowman, his wife of 62 years, and his loving family of 5 children, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Out of love and commitment to his God, David was driven by a passion for others-having founded Partners in Compassionate Care (PCC) in 2004, a nonprofit that has brought hope and healing to over hundreds of thousands of people in South Sudan. He also influenced the lives of families across Western Michigan through Centric Laboratories, the dental laboratory he founded over three decades ago, and which continues to thrive today. The words of an old hymn sum up his life passion: "Others, Lord, yes others, let this my motto be; help me to live for others, that I may live like thee." Although David accomplished an extraordinary amount throughout his life, he constantly reminded everyone that he was just an ordinary man; and that if he was called to accomplish a great mission, anyone can be. David was preceded in death by his parents, George and Inga; brother, Robert (Lois); and sisters, Gladys (Phil) and Mary Lou. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bowman; brother, Jerry; sisters, Avis Guyot and Delores Fingleton; children, Stephen Bowman, Sherri (Dan) Hammond, Sandra Bowman, Scott (Dianne) Bowman, and Stuart Bowman; each of their respective children and grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
