Obituary

Remembering David Berwyn Post

Dave died peacefully and joined his Savior early in the morning on Thursday, October 26, 2023 after a short serious cancer diagnosis. Dave, son of Andrew R. and Alene T. Post, was all about transportation. He started driving heavy equipment as a teenager with his dad. He loved motorcycles from dirt bikes to Harleys and built his own Harley and others that he sold. He was mechanically inclined and kept our cars and pickups in fine running order. He was an owner-operator for decades and was successful because he did much of his own repair on his semis. Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane (Walstra) Post; son, Benjamin and his wife, Valerie, and granddaughters, Kaylee and Brooklyn. He will also be missed by his siblings: Janice and Mike Stafford, Diane Nelson, Cheryl and Steven Rotman, Dr. Richard and Jennifer Walstra, Douglas and Jane Walstra, Mary and Donald Bratt and many nieces and nephews. Dave will be remembered for his love of playing cards and mini golf, knowledge of current events and one-liners. Rest in peace, Dave. We love you. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. David Bosscher officiating. Burial will be held at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, October 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home as well as an hour prior to the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lakeside Community CRC where Dave and Jane enjoyed much Christian fellowship, Hungry for Christ for which Dave drove to pick up the food for distribution, Ada Christian School and Grand Rapids Christian High where Ben attended school.
