Darlyne McDowell

Darlyne K. McDowell, age 87, of Hudsonville, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Darlyne enjoyed life best when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She loved to dance and spend time out on the water in Grand Haven. More than anything in this world though, Darlyne loved spending time with her family and especially cherished being a grandmother. She will be remembered for her toughness, her sense of humor, and her fun-loving personality. Darlyne was preceded in death by her first husband, Norbert Bowhuis; second husband, Leroy McDowell; siblings, Marie Homrich, Sheila Dibble, Gloria Kinney, Bonnie Arntz, and Daniel Homrich. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Deborah and Steven Perry, Denise and Joel Anderson, Mark and Jennifer Bowhuis, Michael and Marcey Bowhuis, Matthew and Stacy Bowhuis; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Carla and Steve Pocernik; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2700 Baldwin St., Jenison with Fr. Phong Pham presiding. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10-11 am prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice or Consolata Missionary Sisters.
