Daniel Pierre Dion

Daniel Pierre Dion, age 78, of Caledonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully June 5, 2024, of Parkinson’s disease. Dan was born in Muskegon on March 18, 1946, to Halley and Helen Dion. Dan lived most of his life in the metro area of Grand Rapids, West Michigan. He graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School and attended classes at Western Michigan College. Dan was the youngest of nine children. His large family shaped the loving, thoughtful man Dan was to become. Dan was married to the love of his life, Kay Lynn Breuninger on April 2, 1966. Dan loved his wife, family, and friends. Dan was a mentor to all, a constant student, and avid reader and thinker. He spent his life thinking about thinking. Dan helped his friends and family enjoy life, live sober and shared his knowledge freely. He cared for his community by volunteering his time as a sponsor and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 36 years. While he had many hobbies, such as reading, music, sports, games, travel, and photography. He loved spending time with his wife and family. A thinker, student and draftsmen to the end, Dan enjoyed learning and contemplating many of life's problems. He lived his life’s purpose by being a supportive sponsor to everyone. He influenced many lives through his positions at Arrow Door, Parker Hannifin, Co Porter, Greenridge Realty and ECF and many others. He owes much of his success and knowledge to his reading and a few mentors, namely Don Arend. Dan’s success afforded him a life of freedom, full of laughs and sharing with others. His legacy will live on through his family. May God bless him for eternity. He is survived by his wife, Kay; sister, Mary; sons, Eric (Peggy), and Marc (Tiffany); grandchildren, Ben (Lindsay), Asia, Sam (McKinzie), Jessica Steffes (Phil), Noah, Sarah, Taylor, Max, Jonah, Raven, Tucker, and Marc Jr.; great-grandchildren, Lucian, Piper, Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Halley and Helen; and siblings, Joyce, Barb, Marva, Ron, Joey, Dianne, and Val. SERVICE June 22, 2024, VISITATION from 1:30pm to 3pm and SERVICE at 3pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE Caledonia, MI 49316. RECEPTION to immediately follow from 4pm to 6pm at Caledonia United Methodist Church 250 Vine St SE, Caledonia, MI 49316, for those who want to attend.
