Daniel Lee Vredevoogd

March 10, 1954 ~
May 21, 2021

Daniel Lee Vredevoogd, 67 years young, peacefully left this earth on May 21, 2021, with his wife and dearly loved children by his side, after a sudden and severe stroke. Known as Daddio, Dan the Man, Stones, and other fun-loving names, he was a positive, selfless, and hard-working man who enjoyed making people laugh. He led by example with his generous spirit and compassionate heart. As the owner of Rivertown Realty and Rivertown Homes By Design, he used his gifts of service and creative problem solving both in business and in his personal life by reaching out to others and helping wherever needed. He loved golfing with his buddies, vacations with his family to national parks, hiking, campfires, and spending time outdoors feeding the deer, wild turkeys, and birds that he loved to watch in his “backyard wildlife sanctuary”. His wife of 41 years, Denise, and their children, Aimie Joy, Daniel Justin, Kari Marie, and Jonathan and Sarah Vredevoogd are left with many precious memories, as are his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Syswerda; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dave and Judy Graanstra, Vonda and Randy Buchman, Mike and Madonna Graanstra; parents-in-law, Bernard and Elsie Graanstra; uncle, Jim Lanting; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is now in Heaven with his parents, Don and Shirley Vredevoogd; nephew, Rick Hunderman; niece, Angela Drost; along with “the great cloud of witnesses”. I Thessalonians 4:13 reminds us that we “do not grieve as those who have no hope”, and we know that we will be with him again. Along with his family and so many dear friends, we will celebrate his life at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, 0-60 Port Sheldon SW, Grandville. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 25 from 4-8 pm at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Samaritan’s Purse (https://www.samaritanspurse.org)/ or Roblealto in Costa Rica (https://www.roblealto.org/donations/).

Rich and I just found out today, May 29, about Dan’s passing. Words can’t express how sad we are. We had a special friendship with Dan since he built our condo. He was an amazing man! He and Rich went out for breakfast or lunch together regularly. Because Rich suffers from many illnesses, Dan was so kind to visit him often. We both enjoyed Dan’s videos of the wildlife in his backyard. We hold all of you in our prayers and Dan forever in our hearts. We will miss him!

I worked for Dan for a short while at Rivertown Builders, and we stayed Facebook friends after that. Dan was the only boss of mine to ever come see me perform in a play. He was one of the nicest people I ever knew. I went to the funeral today and heard some really touching tributes. I never met the family so I regret not being able to pay my respects to them, but I'm glad I attended the service today. My heart is with the family in this sad time.

Denise and family, you have my sincere sympathy. I am praying for you all. I was in the Lee Street Golf League with Dan and so enjoyed getting to know Dan and his great sense of humor. We always had a great time. May God provide His grace for every day ahead.

Dan was a longtime business associate who gave far more to us than a mere business relationship. He became a dear friend to both Pam and I and truly was a blessing to us. Example of Dan's caring spirit: He met us for lunch during the recession when we were struggling, gave us a pep talk, bought our lunches, and afterwards outside he gave me a Christian book to read. At home when we opened it, an envelope fell out. Inside was a check to help us through. Even though he told us it was a gift not to be returned, later on when Dan's business was struggling, we returned the favor. Dan will always be in our hearts, and we pray that Denise and their children find solace in knowing that Dan was greatly loved by many! Sincerely, Kevin and Pamela Beswick
