DANIEL JAMES NEWTON – age 52 of Rockford, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 13, 2018.  Dan will be dearly missed by his children, Mitch Newton and Alyssa Newton; mother of his children, Linda Newton; parents, Gordon and Carole Newton; brothers, David and Kathy Newton, Robert and Karen Newton; sisters, Catherine and David Small, Susan Guerrero, Laurie and Robert Ericsen; many nieces and nephews.  Dan was an outstanding athlete growing up and loved playing football at GVSU.  He was a loving father that enjoyed watching his children’s sporting events.  Dan’s career in marine sales also became his recreation.  He loved boating and was very knowledgeable about boats and marine equipment. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9669 Kraft Ave. SE, Caledonia on Monday, May 21.  Friends and relatives may meet the family from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm on Sunday, May 20 at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 Main St., Caledonia.
