Damaris Garcia de Clavell, age 51, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. She was preceded in death by her mother, Aurea DeLeon and daughter, Lisa Garcia. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 30 years, Luis Clavell; children, Lisette (Pablo Gonzalez) Gonzalez-Garcia, Laritza Faith Morales Jimenez; grandchildren, Isaiah Gonzalez-Garcia, Noelle Gonzalez-Garcia, Elena Gonzalez-Garcia; father, Irene Negron; many brothers and sisters; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Damaris will always be remembered for her kind heartedness, her selflessness, and her willingness to be there for others. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Berto Gonzalez officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The service will be available via livestream through the funeral home website.

Damaris was such a beautiful person inside and out. Everyone loved her to pieces. She was always there to help anyone out. She was such a loving, kind, caring person. She always made everyone feel welcome no matter what. All of her family and friends loved her. My heart goes out to Lissette her daughter. I can’t imagine how you feel sweetie. Maris memory will live on through her daughter and grand babies. Thank you for always being nice to me when I was in your family. You are truly an angel!! I’m glad that I got to know you. Me and Damaris where best friend from grad school thru middle school. Then we split off and went to different high school. I still have pictures of us in school. I remember we used to call each other in the morning to see what the other one was wearing and who could bring clothes to school so we could change lol. I'm so blessed to of had her in my life! The sad part about this is we were talking about getting together for lunch sometime soon and share stories about our life, kids, and Grand. Hearing the news of her passing hit me right in the gut! My heart hurts for the Family and prayers will definitely be sent up for healing in your hearts. I'll miss her terribly!😪

I am so heart broken.... To my family I am so sorry I wish I could take away the hurt we all feel and had some special words that would magically make us feel better but I have none I have thought about it and just can't figure it out.... To Damaris I love you and have great memories of us growing up together as kids and then speaking as adults the feeling like we never missed a beat no matter how much time had passed we always welcomed each other with open arms. You was someone I looked up to with an unbelievable faith in God you inspired so many and will be truly missed you was one of a kind always helping everyone even when they didn't deserve it that was just who you are! I hope you are enjoying being with the rest of our family give them my love and strong hugs and besos until we meet again RIP save my spot at the table
