Dale Hoekwater

Dale Roger Hoekwater, age 82, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Dale proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He then went on to work in HVAC and then retired and worked for the Grand Rapids Auto Auction for 9 years, where he enjoyed working as a driver. He was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa. Dale was his grandkids number one fan when it came to attending all of their various events. Dale loved working with his hands and was constantly working on many different projects or helping others with their own. He was a man of few words but never shied away from cracking a corny joke. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Marge Hoekwater. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Sharon Hoekwater; daughters, Jen Zylstra, Jodie (Tim) May, Jonelle (Tim) Buchanan; grandchildren, Cam, Case, Caedyn, Olivia, Addy, Parker, Quinn, Kruze, Zach, Eli, and Ryan; sister, Nancy Hoekstra; and nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved cat, Jax. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Chapel Pointe Church, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Jim Jeffery officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Pointe’s Barnabas Building Project or Faith Hospice.
