I'm so sorry to see of Dale's passing. I got to know Dale as a customer at Tuttle's during the past 20 years. He was always incredibly nice, intelligent and funny. He is definitely missed. My deepest sympathy to his family. He is gone much too soon. Rest in peace Dale.

Had him as a teach at Saranac, was then a Teacher's Aide for his classroom, and followed that up with some after school fishing trips. The world lost a great one with his passing!

Just learned about Mr Eichenberg’s passing. Woke up and for some reason he came to mind after all these years. I had Dale as my teacher and coach. I remember a bass he caught, brought it to school, and put it in a fish tank in the classroom for the school year. He was such a neat guy!

To Mr. Eichenberg’s family, I’m truly sorry for your loss. Mr. Eichenberg was a coach or teacher to my four older siblings and myself. He was a great teacher and a great man who will be missed. Prayers for you all.

Mr Eichenberg, you were you a family friend, a great science teacher ( and my dads teaching partner for so many years). I probably got away with more than I should have in your class, including in homeroom one day when I hide in a science cupboard while you took attendance. Sorry about that! I remembered you just said “Hubble get out of there,” while smiling and laughing. I will remember my dad’s annual super bowl parties, all those teachers in one room (awkward as a teenager, but enjoyed as an adult). You attended Eric and I’s wedding, as a dear friend of my fathers, nearly 20 years ago. You were always quick with a chocolate cigar for Gabby when Eric would stop by Tuttles. Everyone who talked with you knew how much you loved your family and cherished your time specifically with your granddaughter, Kalei. You will be remembered as a great man! Prayers and thoughts to the entire family, loved ones and friends.

Kathie, Most of my recent conversations with Dale were about the kitten you and he rescued. He started with a brief, minor complaint about her, then went on for 10 minutes or more about the cute and funny things she did. He gave so much love and care to so many. Deepest condolences, hugs and love to you and your family.

Mr Eichenberg was an amazing teacher, coach, and a great friend to my family. My grandpa would always get a big smile on his face when he would pull into his driveway. He touched so many more lives than he ever was aware of. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time.

Thinking of the Eichenberg Family and all who were touched by Dale's love and kindness. As you say goodbye for a while, keep reminding yourselves that he is now being rewarded for the faithfulness that he labored for here on earth. I wouldn't dare say don't cry because the void for those left behind is incredibly great. He however, stepped into something that just blew his mind. Can you remember the excitement as he told you about his greatest catch? Well, it just got superseded! This event surpassed his greatest fishing trip by far! I thank the Lord that he has left you all with the wonderful testimonies and memories. Visit those memories often! Talk about them and share them. In doing so, his love will continue to live on and impact those who hear his story. Love and comfort to you!

Dear Uncle, I dont think theres enough kind words to say about you. You have had so many good people already explain so many good things about you that I couldnt say better myself. You were always kind and caring, and supportive and loving. I remember I used always want to go fishing more with than I had chances to do. I'm regretting that I havent now. I'm regretting that I didnt get a chance to say I'm sorry for your mom dying and thanking you for everything you did to help her. Now you get your chance to see her again. You were taken too soon to us, but theres always another plan for the universe. Rest in Peace, Uncle. You will be missed. Love, Alan

Kathie, Sharon and I are heartbroken at Dale's passing. When we moved north 40 years ago, it was Dale who helped us move and get into our house. I last talked to Dale in December because he always called on my birthday. He was such a thoughtful man, and I know he was a loving and devoted man to you, Jeni and David, and to all of us who were lucky to call him our friend. Words fail us at a time like this. Kathie, may God bless you and wrap his loving, comforting arms around you.

My deepest sympathies to the entire family. I first met Dale when he was my science teacher in middle school. I took every class I could with him including a bass fishing class he offered after school. When I was a senior he became my cross country coach and I spent winters with him assistant coaching middle school basketball. We stayed in contact ever since and I always cherished every time I got to see him or go fishing with him. The time he spent with me and the things I learned from him have had a huge impact on my life and who I am today. He is a huge reason I decided to become a science teacher myself and I have modeled much of my teaching and approach to my students after his approach toward me. Thank you for everything, you will be greatly missed.

Jo-anne and I were deeply saddened when we heard of Dale’s passing. When Dale walked in the store and asked if I needed someone to work a few hours I didn’t realize that it would be one of the luckiest days of my life. We were like Felix and Oscar at times. He was orderly and I was not, he got along with everyone I did not and best of all he lived to clean and I did not. The running joke in the store when someone spilled something in the lounge was “don’t worry Dale will get it” when he comes in. Dale was much more than an employee and a partner, he became my best friend. Our family viewed him as an extended family member. In all the years we worked together, I cannot remember any harsh words between us. He was instrumental in helping the store grow from 400 square foot closet to becoming what it is today. He will be greatly missed by our family as well as everyone who had the honor of knowing him. We send are deepest sympathy and most caring thoughts to you and your family Kathie. How I met Dale was a unique story in itself, but the friendship we made was incredible. Although about 40 years seperated us in age, our love and passion for fishing was the same. Dale didn't have a mean bone in him and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. Overtime he became like another grandpa to me especially after I lost my own not too long ago. He was a wonderful husband, dad, and loving grandpa that will truly be missed. Our prayers go out to Kathie, Kalei, Jeni, and David. Dale will forever hold a place in all of our hearts.

To the Eichenberg Family. I’m so sad about the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I know he loved and was proud of you all. Dale was my mentor at Saranac from 1993 until he retired. He was my voice of reason when I was troubled with student/ parent issues. He always remained calm and matter of fact when helping me with issues. Sometimes I wanted him to get riled with me, but he didn’t. He always thought with a cool head. That’s why he was so beloved by his students and friends. God bless and comfort you all . Stay Well, Carol Webb.

I had Mr. Eichenberg as my science teacher when I was in 8th Grade at Harker Middle School (Saranac) in 1998-1999. He was such a wonderful teacher. He taught science in a way that made it interesting. He was also one of the most respectful, and friendly teachers I've ever had. He was and will always be one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. He definitely impacted the many students he taught. Prayers to his friends and family at this time.

It took my breath away to hear of Dale’s sudden passing on Thursday. There are so many words that describe Dale, but the first that come to my mind are kind, thoughtful, considerate, and genuine. I first met Dale at his cigar business and later became good friends with him as he taught me how to bass fish. To Kathie and the family, may our God fill the big empty place in your life with His presence and nearness and may you experience what is said in Deuteronomy 33:27, “The everlasting God is thy refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Respectfully, Brad Baker

Dale was the heart and soul of our Tuesday night bass tournaments. From NBAA to West Michigan Bass along with the charity cigar tournament. Dale was there. kind. respectful, and a great competitor. No one was as good as Dale at fishing the spot on the spot. If you saw Dale and Mike(Powers) on one spot for length of time, you knew you were in trouble. Dale you will be truly missed.

Very sad news and my condolences to the family and friends. I was a student of Mr. Eichenberg's at Harker Middle School and I fondly remember his science class; which was, I think, the first proper science class I ever had. He sparked a curiosity in me for science which I have pursued into a career, going on to earn my doctorate in microbiology. Not to diminish the impact of my other science teachers and mentors; in many ways, I owe my career and calling in life to him. I will always be grateful for that and will always remember him fondly.

Some believe that we are shaped by significant people in our lives; Mr. Eichenberg was definitely one. I can still hear him projecting my last name to the back of the room when he heard me talking. And I still remember the smile on his face as he laughed at me when saying, "I can't help that your voice is the only one hear when everyone is talking"! RIP

Dale and I became very good friends when we started coaching together. I introduced Dale to Bass Fishing and Bass Tournaments and we did a lot of that together and against each other. He was the best friend anyone could have. He would help you with anything. We recently spent two weeks in Missouri fishing and even fished the day before he was taken from us. I have cried buckets of tears the past three days, but he lived a good respectful life. His wife Kathie and his daughter Jeni, his Son in Law David, and his granddaughter meant the world to him, and if any of them ever called when we were fishing, he would always answer. He will be missed by all that knew him. I have a big hole in my heart right now.
